As Editorial Operations Associate at Cell Press, I was asked to design and illustrate the 15th anniversary cover of Cell Host and Microbe, a journal which aims to “provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and concepts between scientists studying the microbe with those studying the host immune, cell biological, and molecular response upon colonization or infection by a microbe.”

As the focus of this issue was on maternal and infant health, I worked with the team to create a digital illustration that “depicts the intimate relationship between mother and child, which enables the microbial exchange that facilitates early-life microbial colonization and immune development.”
